What is Pepper Spray

Posted on July 7th, 2011

Share this posting, you could help save a life, some day.

Also referred to as an OC or capsicum spray, pepper spray is really a very effective inflammatory agent that can easily irritate the eyes and result in pain, temporary blindness, and tears. Pepper spray is an organic based agent that comes from cayenne peppers. The spray will normally come in canister form, which is frequently times little enough to be carried inside your pocket or in a woman’s purse.

Once the spray is utilized it’ll immediately result in dilating of the capillaries within the eyes, resulting in temporary blindness, chocking, coughing, and tearing of the eyes. The spray will also trigger an extremely intense burning on the skin and result in nausea. The mucous membranes will also begin to swell, making breathing very difficult. The spray is extremely painful, often resulting in the individual who was sprayed to double over and fall to the ground. It causes temporary incapacitation, due to the fact that the individual won’t be able to breathe or see properly.

Often times the spray is utilized with controlling riots or in self defense situations. Pepper spray is extremely handy to have in violent assault situations, as a violent assault occurs each few seconds in the United States alone. Pepper spray is safer to use than guns or knives. It’s also non lethal.

Pepper spray is fantastic to have around your home, or to carry with you at all times. If a burglar breaks into your home although you’re there, you obviously want some thing to protect yourself with. A can of pepper spray is very effective, and can effortlessly stop somebody from attacking you. All it takes is a direct spray to the eyes.

Protection & Safety Tips for College Girls

Take a self defense class

Most colleges offer some type of self defense classes, especially for women. If your school does not offer such classes, get in touch with the student government or campus activities and ask why they do not provide it. These classes are typically free, and sometimes can be taken for college credit. These classes are usually the best way to understand how to defend yourself, and can be empowering to know you can do so if you had to.

College girls should have protection

Some colleges and universities are in “the bad part” of town, and college girls need to look out for more than just college guys. All college girls should have some type of protection on them at all times. Good examples of protection include pepper spray (or mace), or a tazer. Both of these are non-lethal ways to take down a potential attacker and get away. College girls should practice using pepper spray or tazers (stun guns) as instructed on the instructions.

College girls should avoid dangerous situations

Avoiding dangerous situations is the easiest way to stay safe. Always traveling with friends always helps, but also being aware of your surroundings is key. If you feel you are being followed try to get to a safe location as quick as possible. If you are alone don’t stop to talk to a stranger if you don’t feel comfortable. Try to walk and stay in highly lit areas at night, and always stay within view of other people. Avoid shortcuts through alley’s because it could be a prime place to get attacked.

What college girls should do in dangerous situations

If a college girl still ends up in a dangerous situation it is important to know what to do. If you are confronted always have a plan to get out safe. Get on your cell phone with someone you trust and tell them where you are and what is happening, if necessary tell them to call the police. If you can’t get a hold of someone, and you do not feel safe, dial 9 and 1, and keep your finger on the one button – If something happens hit the one and yell out where you are and what is happening. If someone tries to steal your car, throw the keys far away from the car and run the opposite direction, this will help save you from being kidnapped. If someone attacks you, don’t yell help, yell fire! In any situation where someone asks for your wallet or purse, throw it over them and run away as fast as possible. If you are attacked and you have pepper spray or a tazer, use it!

Why Pepper Spray?

Posted on April 16th, 2011

Share this posting, you could help save a life, some day.

What is OC Pepper Spray All About? OC is oleoresin capsicum, which is extracted from chili peppers and is commonly called Pepper Spray. This product is the most widely sold today and the spray of choice for police since 1977. OC pepper spray is generally regarded to be the most distressing to experience, but it must be sprayed directly in the eyes or inhaled to be effective. The product is an oily liquid not very soluble in water.

Pepper spray is often overlooked as a personal protection product. Not sure why. More people often think of a gun when pepper spray should actually be the first line of defense, in most situations.Pepper Spray works very well against attacking animals with sensitive noses especially dogs, and bears and cougars.  Many members of the U.S. Postal Service or law enforcement agencies has all of its mail carriers or patrol officers carry pepper spray, Why? The do it because Pepper Spray really works.

Pepper Spray has modest beginnings that are steeped in history. Anyone who has served in the military has fond remembrances of their encounter with tear gas or pepper spray as part of their basic training in the gas chamber. Police Academies today all over the country and probably in the world have their trainee’s experience what pepper spray is like.

Throughout the ages, the Chinese have been using pepper and spices to throw at their enemies for literally thousands of years. In 1864.  Germans used tear gas for the first time. Chemical agents have been around for nearly a century. If you have ever had black or red pepper get into your eyes, you know what a very unpleasant experience it is.

The non lethal personal protection products that are available to the public for their use such as steel batons, stun guns, TASERS, pepper sprays, etc. all gets plenty of free publicity mostly because they are effective in saving lives and are so effective. Pepper sprays are a favorite of women for self-defense because they are inexpensive, readily available, small and easy to carry.

Pepper Spray is legal in all 50 states, however a number of cities and states have restrictions on sizes, strengths, etc.. If you have a question, it is wise to check with your local city police.  Pepper spray can be considered a weapon. It is strongly recommended that some training or lots of practice take place before use.

Why does pepper spray stop an attacker? When pepper spray is sprayed into someone’s eyes and face, it irritates the skin, eyes, and mucous membranes of the upper respiratory tract (throat). Coughing and choking may be experienced. It is very uncomfortable and there is some pain associated with it. The result is temporary incapacitation, mostly due to not being able to see. It has people too preoccupied with the blinding and painful experience to even attempt to do anything violent to you.

Like all personal protection products the purpose of pepper spray is to give you time to escape or get help not injure or maim. The effects of pepper spray can last as long as 30-45 minutes giving you more than enough time to get away with no lasting damage on your attacker.

If you are looking for an inexpensive, non lethal and effective tool in the fight against crime and a tool for your own personal protection, purchase a Personal Savers product today.

About Personal Savers

The idea for Personal Savers was born in 1995 by Derek Downing and Chad Smith, two national and world champion professional inline speed skaters. While training on the open roads in Georgia, they always came across unruly drivers and stray dogs nipping at their feet. Derek's father David Downing owned an in house pepper spray business that sold to police forces worldwide which helped spark the idea of the original Wrist Saver.

The original Wrist Saver was a crude version of itself today but the concept to keep people safe while being active was born. That idea grew into an actual company, but with the strains of traveling for competitions the business was put on hold...
